How ToBoMin works

Who can see you, what you share, and how to connect.

First, your application is reviewed

You must be approved and meet the current minimum-age requirement before you can browse members, read the Feed, post or chat. Visitors and applicants awaiting approval cannot browse member profiles or posts. Approval is not a guarantee of someone’s identity or intentions.

Who can see whom?

Members can connect with the opposite gender within the groups below. Both members must have approved, active access, and neither may have blocked the other.

Mirîd remains Mirîd-only. Şêx (Sheikh) and Pîr cross-group matching is currently disabled. These are ToBoMin’s configured rules, not a complete explanation of religious marriage rules.

People and Following

People uses your country preferences and selected maximum age to narrow the eligible profiles shown to you. These filters are not extra privacy controls on who can see you.

Tap the heart to save someone under Following. They do not need to like you back. Removing someone from Following does not end an existing chat.

Tap a member’s photo or name to open their profile and posts. Open your avatar → Profile to see your own profile posts and share a new one. Posts created on a profile stay on that profile; posts created in the Feed stay in the Feed. Both follow the same community and blocking rules.

Heart counts are visible on posts. Only the post’s owner can open the list of members who hearted it; that list hides members they are no longer allowed to view.

Who sees Feed posts?

Your regular posts are visible to eligible, approved members of the opposite gender using the group rules above. You can also see your own posts while approved. Following is not required, and the People age and country filters do not filter the Feed.

Admins and moderators can review posts and profiles across groups and member statuses. Official admin announcements are visible to all approved members.

Starting a conversation

You can send an eligible member one introduction without a mutual like. They must accept the message request before you can continue chatting. A declined or closed request does not allow further messages.

To send messages, the app asks you to share your private first name with that connection. Their first name appears when they choose to share theirs. Your public profile uses your nickname.

What stays private?

Your date of birth, verification selfie and application answers are not part of your public profile; they are available to you and authorized reviewers. Eligible members see your nickname, age, country, biography and profile photo.

Chats are restricted to their participants through application access controls. They are not end-to-end encrypted.

Blocking, reporting and leaving

Blocking prevents further matching and messaging and hides your regular posts and profiles from each other. Use Report on a member or post to ask the review team to investigate. Reporting alone does not block someone.
